What to Expect

We have two identical worship services on Sunday mornings at 9:00 and 11:00 am. In our worship you’ll find passionate congregational singing, a relaxed atmosphere, and preaching from God’s word. We have a children’s ministry for infants through fifth grade that is staffed by trained, screened workers.

Throughout the week there are other opportunities to grow and connect. We have fellowship groups that meet in homes throughout the week for study, discussion and prayer, Wednesday night services for teaching, worship and fellowship, and bible studies. Our middle school group meets on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 service, and our high school group meets during our Wednesday night service.

Our Story

In 1989, John Kaiser and his family moved to Tallahassee to plant a gospel-centered, bible-believing local church. What began as a small meeting of believers in living rooms soon grew into what is now Four Oaks Community Church. In 2000 John left to take a position with a church planting organization, and soon thereafter Erik Braun was called as Senior Pastor.

In our 20 plus years of ministry, we have met in store fronts, elementary school cafeterias, and school auditoriums. In January 2010, Four Oaks moved into its new church home on Shannon Lakes Drive.

Today, Four Oaks continues in its mission to live and spread authentic Christianity. We desire to be salt and light in our community as we hold out the hope we have in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel

The Gospel is the good news of the person and work of Jesus Christ. God’s word tells us the story of how he created everything good, and placed Adam and Eve, our first parents, in the Garden of Eden and called them to cultivate and enjoy creation.

Our first parents sinned, and the perfect harmony that existed in creation and in the relationship between God and man was fractured. As a result, every person inherited Adam’s sin, and every person by their nature and their choices stands guilty before a holy and perfect God.

God would have been perfectly just to condemn each one of us to eternal separation from him in hell. But in his mercy, he sent his Son Jesus Christ to come to earth, to live the life that we could not live and die the death that we should have died in our place so that we might be reconciled to Him. Three days after he died, Jesus rose from the grave, conquering our enemies of Satan, sin and death. After some days, he ascended into heaven, where he now rules at the right hand of God the Father. And one day he will return to inaugurate the fullness of his kingdom here on earth. Every person who repents of their sin and trusts in Jesus Christ alone for salvation is rescued from the condemnation of God, is adopted into his family and will have eternal life with him.

This is the Gospel. This is our hope – that we who were enemies of God have reconciled to Him through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We would love to tell you more about it; if you’d like more information, please contact the church office and set up a meeting with one of our pastors.
