Sunday Preview, 8/30/09

Last Sunday was wonderful at Four Oaks.  So nice to have the college students back with us!

This Sunday we will continue in Luke, examining Luke 9:37-62.  I’ll lead our time of singing.  We will open the meeting with the hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and close with “His Name is Jesus,” which is an updated version of the hymn “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.”

See you Sunday!

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
by Robert Robinson

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
Mount of Thy redeeming love.

Hitherto Thy love has blessed me
Thou hast brought me to this place
And I know Thy hand will bring me
Safely home by Thy good grace
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood;

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

His Name is Jesus
Music by Oliver Holden, words by Edward Perronet, vs. 4 by John Rippon, chorus by Judah Groveman

All hail the power of Jesus’ name
Let angels prostrate fall
Bring forth the royal diadem and
Crown Him Lord of all
Bring forth the royal diadem and
Crown Him Lord of all

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race
Ye ransomed from the fall
Hail Him who saves us by His grace and
Crown Him Lord of all
Hail Him who saves you by His grace and
Crown Him Lord of all

His name is Jesus
Risen Lamb, for sinners slain
His name is Jesus
All creation sings the praise
Of Jesus name

Let every kindred, every tribe
On this terrestrial ball
To Him all majesty ascribe and
Crown Him Lord of all
To Him all majesty ascribe and
Crown Him Lord of all
