Good News Club

What is a Good News Club?

After-school Good News Clubs are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship and were approved by the US Supreme Court in 2001 to meet in public schools after school hours on the same terms as other community groups. For more information about the ministry of CEF, visit www.cefonline.com or call the local Big Bend chapter at (850) 878-1558.

The purpose of Good News Clubs are to teach children the good news of Jesus Christ through Bible lessons, missions stories, songs, games, Scripture memory, and prayer. We trust that God will use these clubs to raise up a new generation of worshipers who are passionate about the Lord and desire to see His name proclaimed among the nations. Currently, Four Oaks members lead 3 clubs.

DeSoto Trail Elementary Good News Club meets from 2:45-4:00pm each Wednesday afternoon, and children in DeSoto Trail’s after-school program can participate in the Good News Club with their parent’s permission. For the past 5 years, we have seen God do incredible things in the lives of these children and look forward to His continued work of grace through this ministry.

Hawks Rise Elementary Good News Club is a new club this year that meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15-4:30pm. Our team is excited about teaching these children the good news of Jesus Christ each week.

New club at Canopy Oaks Elementary!! On November 18, we started another club on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15-4:30pm and look forward to teaching children about the gracious work of God each week.

If you are interested in serving in any of the clubs, please contact at (850) 385-0004.

How can I partner with Good News Clubs at Four Oaks?

There are four ways you can partner with us:
1) Serve as a volunteer.
We need both weekly volunteers and volunteers to sub when our regular volunteers are out. In order to volunteer, you must be screened by CEF. Look under the "How Can I Volunteer?" section for more information.
2) Become a member of the prayer team and pray for the club each week.
We send the prayer team periodic updates and prayer requests for the club.
3) Sponsor a child by praying for him/her each week and anonymously giving money to buy him/her a Bible or devotional book.
We periodically send the sponsor updates and prayer requests on the child (the child’s name is not shared with the sponsor) who is being sponsored.
4) Contribute financially to pay for supplies and prizes.
Children are rewarded with a prize for memorizing several memory verses and completing devotional sheets. To financially contribute to the Good News Club, please make the checks out to Four Oaks and put Good News Club in the memo line.

How can I volunteer?

We are always looking for volunteers to serve in Good News Club. Before serving, all volunteers must complete an application with Child Evangelism Fellowship, including a criminal background check and personal interview. To begin the process, you may download these documents and complete and send them to CEF. Volunteers also are asked to attend CEF's 1-day children's ministry conference. The next training is Saturday, February 7, 2009, from 8:30am-4:30pm at FOMC.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray that God will draw these children to Himself and lead them to repent and believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
  • Pray for the parents of unchurched children to be open to coming to Four Oaks.
  • We need more volunteers to serve in the club. Pray that God will call more people from Four Oaks to serve in this capacity.
