Nursery

Purpose: Nurturing the faith of the next generation so that they will honor Christ above all. We aim to provide a place of love, comfort, and protection, as well as a place of prayer, worship, and teaching for young children. Therefore, we desire to provide consistent care by having the same team of nursery workers serve each Sunday.

Teams: Our nursery workers provide care during the first or second worship service by serving on one of three teams:

1. School Year Team (each Sunday, beginning September 13)

2. Summer Team (each Sunday, June-August)

3. Substitute Team (serve as needed)

Requirements: Nursery workers must be at least high school age. In addition, nursery workers must be members/pursuing membership at Four Oaks, be interviewed and trained by children's ministries staff, and complete a national criminal background check. The next training for nursery workers will be in January 2010.

Sunday School

Purpose: Partnering with parents in equipping our children with an understanding of the truths of God’s Word, the grace of the Gospel, and the character of God, so that they might worship the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Teams: Our Sunday School workers volunteer during the first or second worship service by serving on one of three teams:

1. School Year Team (each Sunday, beginning September 13)

2. Summer Team (each Sunday, June-August)--during the summer, we only have Sunday School for preschoolers.

3. Substitute Team (serve as needed).

Roles: There are several roles one can fill in Preschool or Elementary:

1. Lead teacher - serves as the primary instructor to the children and also provides mentoring to the helpers under his/her care. We have two teachers per classroom, so that volunteers can share teaching duties.

2. Small Group Leader - assists the lead teacher in teaching and nurturing the children and leads a small group of children each week in prayer and application of the lesson.

3. Worship Leader - leads children in singing, scripture memory, and hearing a mission story.

4. Puppet/Puppet Leader - writes and/or acts out a puppet skit that helps explain and apply the weekly lesson and/or memory verse.

Requirements: Sunday School workers must be at least middle school age. In addition, workers must be members/pursuing membership at Four Oaks, be interviewed and trained by children’s ministries staff, and complete a national criminal background check.

Good News Club

Purpose: Teaching children the good news of Jesus Christ through Bible lessons, mission stories, songs, games, Scripture memory, and prayer. We trust that God will use this club to raise up a new generation of worshipers who are passionate about the Lord and desire to see His name proclaimed among the nations.

Teams: There are three ways you can partner with the Good News Clubs:

1. Volunteer team - serve at Canopy Oaks Elementary (Tues, 3-4:15pm), DeSoto Trail Elementary (Wed, 3-4:15pm), or Hawks Rise Elementary (Thur, 3:45-5pm) during the school year.

2. Prayer Team - receive periodic updates and prayer requests for the clubs.

3. Financial Team - contribute financially to pay for Bibles, devotionals, supplies and prizes. Children are given a Bible or devotional at the end of the school year and are awarded prizes for memorizing memory verses and completing devotional sheets. Please make the checks out to Four Oaks and put Good News Club in the memo line.

Requirements: All school volunteers must complete an application with Child Evangelism Fellowship, including a criminal background check, reference check, personal interview, and training. Sunrise volunteers must complete a children's ministries application and an interview with Pastor Scott or Pastor Larry. In addition, all volunteers should listen to our Teaching Kids seminar.
