Artist conception of outside of the new buildingWhat an exciting time and season this is for our church body as the 2008 calendar year promises to be a busy and exciting one at Four Oaks Community Church! In addition to preparing for a fall capital campaign to fund the Phase I Shannon Lakes Plaza renovations, we will be working on the design phases for the new building; organizing volunteer work crews from the church body to begin demolition on the SLP; calling the church body to a season of sacrificial giving; organizing times of corporate prayer and intercession; attempting to market and sale the Four Oaks Ministry Center; and strategically planning our 2009 ministries to take advantage of the evangelistic and community outreach opportunities that a permanent facility will provide us.

Artist conception of inside of the new buildingWe are embarking on a month long focus during our corporate worship times that will expound upon these themes as we seek God’s will and provision for our church body. Our time in the Word will be focused on understanding God’s sovereignty over this whole purchase, move, and settlement into our new home and where we all can sacrificially steward our time, resources, and very lives to be a part of His design for us as a church family. The pastoral team and elders will disperse information, raise awareness, tune up our people’s hearts to God’s plan, and exhort them to action from God’s Word.

Artist conception of a gathering area“Impossible Tour 2008” seems an appropriate theme for our church family, because from a human perspective the scope and cost of the mission before us is overwhelming and unattainable. However, we believe that God wants us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen; the former is temporary, but the latter is eternal. Ultimately, it is by God’s grace that he has placed us in a position as a church body where we must completely depend upon him and not ourselves, meaning that He will receive the glory and honor through the provision He makes for us.
